Mumbai Police Arrest 34-Year-Old Nigerian Woman with Cocaine Worth Over ₹1.42 Crore in Andheri West

In a major drug bust operation, Versova Police in Mumbai detained a 34-year-old Nigerian woman after recovering 418 grams of cocaine valued at approximately ₹1.42 crore (over ₦254 million) from her possession.

The incident took place in the early hours of June 30, 2025, around 3 AM, when Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officials noticed suspicious behavior by the woman, identified as Yenna Christina Idowu, in the Old MHADA locality of Andheri West, Mumbai.

Acting on suspicion, police officers, along with a female constable, conducted a thorough search of her bag. They discovered 30 capsules containing high-quality cocaine weighing a total of 418 grams.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that she originally hails from Ondo State, Nigeria, and had been residing in Noida, New Delhi for some time. She was reportedly in Mumbai to deliver the narcotics.

A case has been registered against her under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Mumbai Police and ATS have launched an intensive investigation to dismantle the entire drug trafficking network, including identifying the supplier and the intended recipient of the seized cocaine.
The Nigerian national is currently in police custody as further legal proceedings continue.

This incident highlights the growing concern over international drug smuggling into India, especially through major cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Authorities have stepped up surveillance in areas frequently used by foreign nationals involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
