Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba (or 2Face), has found himself at the center of family controversy after his younger brother, Charles Idibia (aka Charlybrave), published a lengthy and emotional open letter on Instagram.
In the heartfelt post that has since gone viral, Charlybrave described 2Baba as one of the most peaceful and selfless people he knows — a man who would rather be seen as the “villain” than expose those hurting him. He even likened his brother to a “modern-day Jesus” for silently carrying pain to protect others.
However, the tone shifted as Charles turned his attention to a woman he claims is currently in a relationship with the singer. Without mentioning her name, he made serious allegations, including:
Breaking into 2Baba’s phone while he was asleep to falsely announce a divorce and post her own photos on his official accounts
Begging Nigerians online to pressure 2Baba into marrying her
Cloning the singer’s WhatsApp to delete and respond to messages while impersonating him.
Taking control of his email and social media accounts
Isolating him from his long-time management team and convincing him to relocate from Lagos to Abuja
Forcing him to abandon businesses and making him visit places “the real 2Baba would never go”.
Publicly using the Idibia surname and introducing herself as his wife — despite 2Baba still being legally married to Annie Idibia
Sabotaging important business trips and spreading false narratives.
Charlybrave expressed deep concern that his brother is no longer himself, saying the relationship has emotionally drained the Afrobeat icon under the guise of love. He specifically referenced a recent podcast where 2Baba was allegedly forced to retract statements just because he didn’t mention his girlfriend’s name.
“A girlfriend who makes you eat your words… is not a girlfriend but a psychotic fan and a cancerous leech,” he wrote.
Ending on a pleading note, Charles urged 2Baba to take a complete break from everything:
“Take a couple of months off ALONE. Disconnect from social media. Let the music and business wait. Heal properly — for the sake of your seven beautiful children. This is not you, bro.
The explosive post has sparked massive reactions across Nigerian social media, with fans, celebrities, and bloggers debating the state of 2Baba’s personal life and marriage to Annie Idibia.
As of now, 2Baba has not publicly responded to his brother’s allegations.
