“Benue Graduate Found Dead in Lagos: Family Claims CCTV Footage Raises Questions”

A young Benue State University graduate, Wilfred Amondo, has reportedly passed away under controversial circumstances while working as a security guard in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

Wilfred, who studied English at BSU, was said to have returned to work shortly after watching the Chelsea vs Paris Saint-Germain match on Sunday, July 13, 2025. During the game, he shared several posts on Facebook, joking about the match outcome and telling fans to “bet Chelsea to win.”

However, the circumstances surrounding his death have raised serious suspicions.

Claims of Possible Foul Play

According to a post made by Terlumum Dzungwe, addressed to the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, CCTV footage from the company does not align with the claim that Wilfred suddenly collapsed while on duty. Dzungwe further alleged that when the body arrived in Benue on July 15, visible injuries and marks suggested the possibility of a violent death, contradicting the company's explanation.

Another colleague, Ishaku Adamu, offered a different account. He stated that after the football match, Wilfred chatted online and later called a coworker to take over his post so he could rest. According to him, Wilfred simply went to sleep and “never woke up again.”

Hardworking Orphan Seeking a Better Life

LIB gathered that Wilfred, who lost his parents at a young age, had worked as a wheelbarrow pusher and tricycle operator (Keke rider) to fund his education. About two months ago, with the help of a friend, he traveled to Lagos to secure a job as a security guard.

Calls for Investigation and Justice

In a heartfelt statement, Dzungwe described the incident as a “mysterious demise” and stressed that the family and community were not satisfied with the company’s explanation. He appealed to authorities to launch an urgent and transparent investigation to uncover the truth behind the young graduate’s death.

He emphasized that even the transportation of Wilfred’s body home was done through the support of friends and contributions from the company, since the deceased had no immediate family to fight for him.

“We demand justice for this innocent young man,” he wrote, urging the Speaker to intervene and ensure the matter is fully investigated.
