NSCDC Uncovers Prostitution Recruitment Centre in Edo, Deploys Personnel Against Nude Dancers in Kwara Hotels

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has revealed the discovery of a prostitution recruitment centre in Edo State. NSCDC Commander, Mr. Makinde Ayinla, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Monday.

The illicit settlement was located in Uselu N’ Ahor, Uhunmwode Local Government Area, near a police station, following weeks of surveillance by NSCDC operatives. Many of those rescued from the site were teenagers from northern and middle-belt states, while a woman in her mid-twenties was also among the five individuals saved.

Commander Ayinla called on the Edo State government to work with security agencies to clear the settlement, describing it as “unfit for human habitation” and warning that it could pose a public health risk. He said such intervention would strengthen ongoing efforts to combat child and human trafficking.

He commended government initiatives promoting skill acquisition as a means of reducing prostitution but criticized parental neglect, which exposes children to risks such as kidnapping or exploitation.

Some victims, who spoke to NAN, revealed that they were from Benue State and that their parents were unaware of their whereabouts. They said they were recruited by a woman known as ‘Manager,’ who promised lucrative jobs in Benin. Each victim reportedly paid N30,000 as a “settlement fee” and an additional N500 daily from earnings of N3,000 to N4,000 as a “loyalty fee” to the recruiter. The ‘Manager’ is currently at large.

In a related development, the NSCDC Kwara State Command has deployed over 1,000 personnel to monitor hotels and arrest hoteliers who engage nude dancers. Commandant Mr. Wasiu Adeyinka-Ayinla told NAN in Ilorin that intelligence officers have already taken up duty positions to enforce the law

“Our intelligence officers are in hotels day and night to apprehend hoteliers who engage in strip dance,” he said.
